Welcome to Phase 2 of your volunteer training. In this phase, we will build on the foundation you developed in your core training and begin to explore the work at SASC in greater depth.

This section will focus on deepening your understanding of:

  • the range of support services available to survivors
  • how survivors may access and navigate those services
  • your role in providing informed, compassionate, and survivor-centred support

You will also begin to develop a more nuanced understanding of the contexts in which sexual violence occurs, as well as the systems and barriers that can shape a survivor’s experience.

As you move through this phase, it is important to continue grounding yourself in the principles from your core training. Many of the concepts introduced here will expand on those foundations, connect back to them, and challenge you to apply them in more complex and real-world situations.

This phase is designed to help you feel more confident, prepared, and supported in your role as a direct support volunteer at SASC.
