Consent refers to the voluntary agreement to participate in an activity. In a general sense, it means to give permission. Consent must be voluntary, informed, enthusiastic, and without external pressure or coercion. Obtaining someone’s explicit consent before engaging in sexual activity is imperative. To better understand consent and what it can look like, we can take a look at the acronym F.R.I.E.S. which was adapted from Planned Parenthood.
